Foods & drinks with calcium and vitamin D

13th April 2006

A man who works with doctors to make sure they get their patients the best supplements showed me some of his presentation once. It included x-rays of a person’s teeth before and after taking calcium supplements. The difference was amazing. The teeth looked kind of hollow/gray inside in the first x-ray but solid white all the way through after getting enough calcium.

Now that improvement was based on supplements, but we need to eat calcium-rich foods too (in fact I’m told that most calcium supplements provide calcium that your body can’t absorb anyway). Here are a few: milk (and milk products), yogurt, cheese, broccoli, sardines with bones, and tofu.

Foods that are vitamin D fortified are also good: vitamin D fortification is common with milk, dried milk products, and cereals.
