“If it’s getting to market, it’s good.”

7th August 2010

I call bullshit.

“We have been selling Gulf seafood the entire time and there’s some resistance, some people are worried,” said Ti Martin, who helps run the family business, says some customers have been hesitant to order them. “But really, the number of government agencies testing seafood is unprecedented. If it’s getting to market, it’s good.”

Now I’m not speaking of Gulf seafood specifically – just the notion that the US government won’t allow us to eat anything that’s bad.

They let us eat lead and other stuff in our protein shakes so how can I believe that there can’t be contaminants in food we buy (restaurants, supermarkets, whatever). Now maybe seafood from the gulf is just fine – maybe not. But the food reaching my dinner plate is no evidence either way!
